The summit is on. Twentyfour crucial hours in world history. Five political leaders - the Greenlandic self-governing chairman, a Russian oligarch, the American ambassador, the Danish prime minister, and a young Greenlandic activist - collide in an unpredictable negotiating room, mildly speaking. A hostage drama unravels, a Russian president dies, the Danish prime minister is in labor, and Greenland's independence is the key to peace, or is it? Both absurd and violent scenes play out. The attendees have 24 hours to craft a sustainable solution in a room thick with hidden agendas and unresolved traumas.
The Arctic Summit is a timely performance about a world out of balance, placed at stake in a closed room, with sharp dialogues, humorous and insane episodes, and beautiful film sequences seasoned with a beautiful electronic sound universe.
Award recipient and author Kim Leine is behind the script, and on stage are, among others, the two Reumert recipients, Klaus Geisler and Aviana Steinbacher. Behind it all is director and producer Hanne Trap Friis and Theater freezeProductions (The Greenlandic Man, Perspective, I Carry My Soul, Block 4, and Your Story is Also Mine).
